What is Insulation and How can it Save Me Money?
Insulation inhibits heat transfer, keeping homes warm in winter and cooler in summer. It helps to maintain a consistent indoor temperature, reducing HVAC system operation, which can save you money on energy costs. The most significant factors affecting energy costs are often poorly insulated attics and drafty windows and doors.
Insulation Types
There are four standard types of insulation used in residential buildings. Our In-Home Consultants can discuss with you which type is best for your home:
-
Filled with mineral fibers including rockwool and fiberglass, comes in rolled-up form.
-
Sprayed into the crevices and cavities of a home by a professional installer.
-
Consisting of cellulose, rockwool and/or fiberglass, contained in pellets or fibers and installed with pneumatic tools.
-
Typically packaged in boards or pipe fittings and is typically used to insulate wall sheaths and foundations.
