Our Windows on Washington project of the week is a full tear-out, custom window replacement of a 5-story townhouse. The project that the customer originally requested was a simple custom window replacement for his unit. Upon further inspection from a Windows on Washington expert, we determined that the window frames had an extreme amount of wood rot and were not structurally sound. This problem seemed odd given the age of the townhouse, so we investigated until we found the root cause – a major drainage problem stemming from the roof. After the drainage problem was repaired, we proceeded to do a full tear-out of the windows and rotten wood, re-framed the openings, and installed the new energy efficient windows. The images below give a detailed view of the scope of our work. We are extremely proud of our installation team for this work; their re-framing, carpentry and installation work is unmatched!
