Windows on Washington would like to highlight a specialty window for the project of the week – Bow Windows.
A Bow window is a window unit made of four to six windows which form an arc shaped window wall. They typically have fixed casement windows in the center with operational casement windows at each end. When installing replacement windows, a bow window may be used to replace an existing bow window or standard windows. However, because the bow window is so large and heavy, it may be required to be structurally tied to the home. While analyzing the window structure of your home, do not forget that the ceiling and floor area may need additional insulation to ensure maximum energy efficiency.
For the project of the week, our clients wanted to improve the energy efficiency of their home, provide more functionality with their windows and increase curb appeal. This beautiful bow unit, expertly installed by the WoW Team, successfully met each of their goals.

These close ups show a major difference! The old bow window, pictured left, was a single paned unit with only 2 small square operational windows. The new WoW bow window, pictured right, is comprised of 5 highly efficient Okna 500 casement windows with fully operational end units.
