At Windows on Washington, we love the Holiday Season! It is a time of rest and relaxation, and a time where we can be with our familes, friends and all our loved ones. As the end of the year draws to a close, we would also like to take the time to say a heartfelt thank you to all of you – the Windows on Washington community. This year has been one of the best yet and we are looking forward to seeing what 2018 will bring. None of what we do would be possible without all of you - so thank you! No doubt you are already in holiday mode, looking forward to family celebrations and ringing in the new year. And, as you open your home to your family and friends, you might be thinking about how you can prepare your home for an influx of visitors and all the celebrations! 1. Create a Warm and Welcoming Home with Insulation and Replacement Windows

If you are hosting family and friends over the holidays, the last thing you want is for someone to complain about how cold your home is. A happy guest is a warm guest. However, you do not want to find your next utility bill has shot through the roof because you had your heating on non-stop over the holidays. We have two simple solutions to make sure your guests are happy, and your energy bills remain low. Firstly, make sure your home is properly insulated and sealed. Installing insulation can be costly, so you can simply start with the rooms that get the most use. The second tip we have for you is to check your windows and doors. If your rooms feel drafty or appear to let air out, it is probably time to replace your windows and doors. The good news is insulating your home and replacing any old windows and doors will keep your house comfortable throughout all the seasons, not just during the cooler months.

2. Finish Any DIY Projects You Have Started

A simple way to do this is by sorting everything into three categories: keep, donate and trash. Not only will you create some extra room and space for your guests, but you will also be doing a good deed by donating unused items to those who need it.
